Your Career, Your Journey, Your Future

However happy, secure and fulfilled you feel in your current role, all too often in our very fast moving organisational worlds we are made painfully aware that things can change around us (and sometimes within us) very quickly.

A settled, optimistic and rewarding job status can suddenly, through circumstances often not entirely of our own making, become a more turbulent roller-coaster of uncertainty, loss of control and trepidation about the future.

Alternatively as we grow and develop through life’s journey, we may just decide that what we are doing is simply not fulfilling enough or using our talents to the full and that sooner or later, for our own peace of mind or renewed fulfilment, we will need to change direction.

So how do we best anticipate and prepare for a time when we are not so settled as now? How do we give ourselves an insurance policy for the future and in so doing identify the more immediate actions that we can and should take right now to prepare for the possibility of a changed and possibly uncertain future? And how do we do so in a way that will enhance our future career chances?

All really important questions often asked by the many individuals from different parts of the world that we regularly engage with and coach to help them plan, develop and manage their careers.

So to help address these questions, we have produced and launched a practical workbook and Guide entitled “Navigating Your Future” - a downloadable e-publication designed as a self-help toolkit and framework for career-minded individuals to plan for the future.

The Guide is designed to help you:

▶️ Define Your Career DNA - be clear about the unique combination of skills, experiences, achievements and personal qualities that makes you the talented stand-out individual that you are so that you are better able to formulate the message and narrative that you will project to others when you are seeking to make an important future change in your career or career direction.

▶️ Evaluate the Present - dissect how you feel about your current role and career state i.e. what do you value that you want to repeat and grow for the future and what do you most want to change and replace in your next career role . And most importantly, how fulfilled and motivated are you by your present situation and opportunities in front of you and how urgent should you be about making change happen.

▶️ Plan For The Future - identify your vision for your future, what is it that you really, really want to do next and what is your parallel plan if your relatively settled career status should suddenly become disrupted by factors outside your control.

The Guide can act as your career stock-take and audit helping you either confirm that you are really happy with where you are and what you are doing or prompting you to anticipate the changes you might want or need to make now or in the future.
